Drone extenders are intended to accompany the B flat Ensemble chanter. When playing at a lower pitch the drones will tune higher. For many pipers this can become perilously close to the top of the tuning pins. Drone extenders provide an easy way to play at the lower B flat pitch without the need to adjust drone reeds or to have an alternative set of drone reeds. The extenders simply slot into the top of the drones thereby lengthening the column of air and flattening the drone. This will enable the drones to tune lower down on the tuning pins. Most likely the drone extenders will need to be secured with some PTFE sealing tape to ensure a snug fit.
